Terrible experience.

Old School sold me on over $500 of "special handling" charges for 4 items that had to be moved extra carefully especially for a long distance move. The special items were moved exactly as everything else, not treated special in any way. Old School refused to discuss this matter, or apologize or refund any of the charges. (Due to us signing the receiving document upon delivery). The special handling charges are deceptive! Please don't fall for this and if you do, don't sign anything and take lots of photos.

We waited over 1 year before even getting a response to normal damage claims. Then they make you jump through a lot of hoops hoping you will just give up at some point.

So old school moving and storage set up my move up but Map moving and storage actually were the ones that they contracted out to pick up my items and I hold them both accountable. First they almost doubled the quoted price because they said my boxes were bigger and my bed wasn’t normal size so it went up from $2800 to $5078. I didn’t get all my paperwork from the move and the mover said they were supposed to email it out to me. I kept them in the loop about when I would be closing on my house and when I would need my things delivered because they kept saying it would take 21 days. My things were in their storage for about 1 month and 20 days. When they were delivered, it was an actual rats in my boxes, they ate half of my clothes, my 82” Samsung tv was broke, along with my work desk. They sent me to a 3rd party claims division after numerous calls and e-mail. This was the worse move I have ever had.

This is not a moving company, but someone you are paying a premium to find another moving company to handle your move. They deliver excellent service until you sign the contract and pay the deposit. After that you will not receive information regarding your move until 24 hours before. Good luck getting in touch with anyone at the office. It is obvious from reading previous reviews that they spend more time responding to bad reviews than they do their client's concerns. The team at Old School Moving and Storage has zero interest in making sure your move goes smooth. The moving company they paired me with, Unlimited Moving and Storage, arrived 2 days late and had to return on the 3 day to complete the move. My quote went from $8000 to $14,000 although my declared inventory was pretty spot on. Be very careful when selecting liability coverage and paying cash because this will determine the effort these guys put into packing your stuff. They know that 60 cents per pound is nothing and will destroy or "misplace" and item rather than take care of it. Hopefully this review will cost their business more than 60 cents per pound. What should have been a pretty easy and straightforward move turned into a disaster. The bookcase that they did "not have time" to disassemble was completely destroyed. I found the team literally throwing the broken pieces into the back of the truck, laughing, in an effort to hide the evidence. In addition to this, they broke my headboard, dishes, and completely misplaced an end table and a tool bag which had all of the furniture screws and hardware. Not sure how this happens when the truck they loaded would be the same truck to deliver my items a week later. After paying $14000 for a 1 bedroom 1 bath move, I deserve better service from these companies. Read the reviews carefully, and don't be a victim of this SCAM...A sales SCAM that offers you a "deal" only to find that it doubles the day of your move. By this point you are so exhausted and likely have no other options than to pay the revised amount or lose your deposit. If this review can stop a single person from making the same mistake I did then something good actually came out of this horrible experience! Find a moving company that will give you an honest and fair quote, accepts credit cards and will commit to excellent service from the beginning to the end!

There are no words to describe how angry I am. I am in the customer service/hospitality industry since I was 15 years old. I never would have become as successful as I am by lying to my clients & trying to charge them 3 times more than I had quoted. This was beyond anything I could imagine. So unprofessional, disrespectful & just wrong on so many levels. You take advantage of people by holding their stuff hostage & then I have no option but to pay. There were so many things that they told me that did not happen. Best advice is to call somebody else!

Old School Moving and Storage Corp made our moving day a great experience. They were great to work with pre-move, answering all my questions and scheduling was simple. The day-of experience was great. When they arrived, we highlighted what was/wasn’t moving and they got right to work, no more direction needed. Any stray unboxed items we hadn’t gotten to were safely and quickly packed and loaded. They were super efficient and impressive. Unloading was just as impressive, as they even put back together some things they’d had to disassemble to move. The final price came in exactly where they said and it was incredibly reasonable. Before the day was done, I’d already recommended them to two other friends that are moving soon! With all of the things that go into moving, it was wonderful to have the actual move itself go so smoothly.

We used Old School Moving and Storage Corp and storage to move us 1) from our apartment to temporary storage and 2) from temporary storage to our first house. Ilanit and the office staff were very helpful in answering my questions and coordinating the logistics of the move. She also advised me to contact the municipality we were moving to in order to get a permit for the moving truck to park on the street without getting a ticket. Jose and the three other movers with him were prompt, courteous and extremely professional. They move like a machine! They are extremely efficient with their time and they stayed moving the whole time. They were eager to both disassemble and reassemble our furniture and actually put some pieces back together better than the original installer. They also do an excellent job cleaning-up afterwards and nothing was missing or broken. I've heard from others that they may not be the absolute least expensive but we found their costs to be fair and reasonable especially considering that both moves were performed without any headaches or regrets. A friend of mine who also used Old School Moving and Storage Corp said that he typically uses them and the one time he didn't, he wished that he had. I highly recommend Old School Moving and Storage Corp and Storage for a smooth, well-coordinated, professional and headache-free move!
