Long-distance move from Saint Paul, MN to Austin, TX

Damaged stuff, delayed delivery and hopeless at refunds

We had scheduled our move from Twin Cities, MN to Austin, TX.

The delivery was delayed by not days but by weeks. Recliners were damaged and refund process needed to sign a letter in front of Notary and check thats placed on 'HOLD' since they want to confirm its made to correct person! Been calling them for months to have refund check out of hold to deposit at bank. No one from Customer Service will answer or return calls to verify details to remove said hold. This has been ongoing for 4 months now!!!

Nothing short of malpractices! Rent a UHAUL and drive yourself!. RUN AWAY from this company.

Stole $1,356 From Us (Job Number Y2439076)

For such a wildly successful and 5-Star reviewed company, they called us an awful lot to get the sale. Most, if not all, of their 4.9 out of 5 star reviews on Google were manufactured by bribing customers or just faked in general. It’s pretty obvious as you’re reading through them.

*This is the most important thing to know about these guys. They use what I can only describe as a “live” invoice or estimate system. Essentially, you’re never given a hard copy of the estimate or invoice. Just a link to it in an email which they can edit at any time without your knowledge. It’s a great way to gaslight your own customers and never have a record of scamming anyone. The screenshot I took of the estimate just by accident shows $3,200. This was days later after they had changed it without our knowledge.

*Ethan (doubtful it’s his real name) booked us aggressively. Quoted $2,200 for 50 Boxes & A few pieces of furniture. Paid deposit of $856 by ACH (electronic check)

*They called the next day: they only had us down for 30 boxes & furniture. We told the man this on the phone and he said no problem we’ll just add the boxes. When I left the room (this was common throughout the whole process) they asked my fiancé to Venmo them $500 more. What legitimate company uses Venmo with their customers?

*It’s actually a violation with the department of transportation to ask for payment through a service they don’t have listed in the invoice or estimate. I wouldn’t find out about this extra $500 until after they showed up to our house. They kept waiting until I was absent to ask for money. Every single time.

*A company called HGME Movers showed up two days later and before they came called to tell us that the original time slot we had scheduled was getting moved up by 8 hours. This was ridiculous but life was chaotic at the time so we just did what we needed to do. Which included staying up all the way through the night to finish packing properly. So we already running on no sleep when this happened. They have awful reviews online and despite this, Navistar uses them exclusively in Minnesota and is not shy about that.

*An older man with an accent showed up with three non-English speaking workers. He did a “visual” check on our items and based on this “visual” check he changed the invoice to increase from $3,200 to $4,200 (the second phone call where they asked for $500 more was when they added the extra $1,000 without our knowledge). He didn’t measure or count boxes. He just decided in his head that we had enough stuff to throw on an extra $2,000. AGAIN, they waited until something pulled me away from my finance to charge us this.

*When I returned, she was visibly upset and I asked her what happened. Apparently, this guy cornered her and threatened her that if she didn’t write another check for $1,400 and accept the new contract that we would lose our deposit. Of course she said yes while she was in a room with 4 intimidating males.

*Upon my return, I asked the non-English speaking man in charge what the deal was. Why were we being charged twice what we were originally quoted? He didn’t have an answer and don’t think he really understood. All he understood was “stop”. And don’t forget this might have been one of the easier moves these guys would have done in a while: just a bed frame, mattress, and approx 50 plastic bins and boxes.

*After explaining to the new man in charge since his boss had fled the scene, that we needed him to have the crew unload the truck and the boss needed to come back to talk to us before we were going to go through with the move. We waited for an hour after the crew left. They left the truck in our driveway which blocked our exit. So now we were trapped on our own property.

*Finally, we heard the truck fire up and went outside to obviously meet the guy in charge but by the time we got outside he had pulled away. He wouldn’t answer phone calls, never came in to discuss the extra charges, never said sorry, never said bye to us, nothing. And he drove away with our $1400 check which we called the bank immediately to stop. Technically the job is still open since we never cancelled the job nor did we refuse service. We were entitled to an explanation which was never given.

*I called Navistar about 15 times before I finally got a hold

of Ethan. He said I’ll transfer you to billing when I asked for a refund. As you may have guessed, I was hung up on twice requesting this. The 3rd time I called, some guy named Kevin answered. He told me I had refused service (not true), and that we had signed a contract that said we lose our deposit

Do not do business with these guys

As part of our estimation process, we use the same CRM that 99% of the moving industry uses. To provide estimates to customers, this software is in line with Department of Transportation guidelines. Additionally, you can print a copy of the contract at any time or save it to your computer. Please accept my apologies if you weren't aware of this, but you could have asked Customer Service for a copy or asked your representative how to print your own hard copy. The volume estimated by the CRM is computed based on the information the customer provides. There are a multitude of ways that companies offer their customers to complete payments. Just the other day I myself was at a restaurant where their POS hardware provided an option to pay with Venmo. With today's technology, companies try to provide their customers with as many options as possible for ease of use. We do have several other options you can use if you did not wish to use that. I am unsure as to why you are saying that adding $500 to your estimate was in violation of the Department of Transportation regulations? Quality Assurance called and spoke to you, and you added items to your inventory and additional money for the deposit was due. Companies are allowed to collect additional money when new services and/or items are added to the estimate. When the drivers arrive they must do a visual estimate, as per the DOT, and provide the customer with a Bill of Lading or written estimate for the amount of space that they believe the presented items are going to occupy within the truck. Also, this has to be the worst-case scenario, because as per the DOT once they begin to load the truck, they cannot charge additional charges. If the estimate does not go up to the full amount estimated for revision, they will lower the final charges down to what was used. There were calls made to customer service but unfortunately, they did explain that if services were denied/refused, the deposit is nonrefundable. There was a male who called in attempting to discuss the contract at a later time but due to legal reasons, we are unable to discuss a move with a person not listed on the estimate. Also, this person was conducting themselves in an unprofessional manner and using profane language towards staff members so the call was disconnected after that point. If you wish to discuss this further please feel free to call customer service and discuss this matter. 800-380-5095 Monday – Friday 9:30 am -6 pm EST. – Navistar Management

Excellent Customer Service from Start to Finish

Reading some of these negative reviews, I’m amazed because my experience was definitely not the same!! Everything went exceptionally well from start to finish! I spoke with Michelle who was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions and was very detailed and thorough. I was also moving pretty last minute which she definitely eased the stress.

I called a couple of different companies and chose Navistar because Michelle stood out from everyone else. I never felt rushed or pressured into anything. She took the time to check and double check that everything was accurate so there wouldn’t be any surprises or complications on moving day.

I also liked that she was always available when I called and I was never directed to voicemail or an automated system.

I would highly recommend this company and give them my business when I need movers again!!

SCAM SCAM SCAM DO NOT USE

I was contacted by Christopher from Navistar about a moving quote. Of course they had the best one, and he pushed for me to lock in the lowest rate they had. This was in February of 2022, and I had no clue when our move would actually take place. I continuously asked him over and over again what would happen if I didn't move with their company? Christopher said I would be refunded every penny and to help set me at ease, he added it in to the contract. The standard is that you have to cancel in 72 hours, but he wanted me to be able to take advantage of this great rate, so he wrote this exception in to the contract.

I have this written in to my contract estimates three times, and written in text, and given in verbal promises that ALL of my deposit would be refunded at any time if I chose not move with Navistar. As soon as it came time for us to give the deposit, the line and promises about my "full refund" disappeared.

During my quality check before the move, I found out that over half my inventory had disappeared (probably how my rate and cost was so easy to keep so low). As I went through the inventory list with Steve, I got extremely worried about the price, and at the end, found out that the cost of the move had DOUBLED. I now owed an additional deposit.

I tried to get ahold of Christopher or Steve and was unable to. I found another moving company that was able to accommodate my needs within two days and called Navistar to ensure my move with them was cancelled and to initiate my refund.

Surprise surprise, the customer service rep I spoke to, Michelle, (who needs to learn how to actually work in customer service) basically told me good luck, I didn't cancel in 72 hours, it didn't matter what I was told anywhere, I wasn't getting any money back.

After the weekend I called Christopher, actually got ahold of him, and his whole attitude had changed. He was rude and basically accused me of lying. I reminded him of what he had told me and said the equivalent of "nope, I never said that, show me where you saw that, it's not there." He transferred me to billing, who was a most awful woman. She talked and yelled over me, and finally hung up on me.

I haven't received any of my deposit back. My phone number is blocked from calling the company. I tried disputing with my bank but because of the way Navistar processed the payment my bank can't / won't do anything about it. They originally wanted me to pay with Zelle, Venmo, or another cash app. When I refused and said I wanted to pay with a card or something like that, I was given the option of an ACH online. It was processed like I had handed over my check book.

DO NOT hire Navistar Van Lines. They only care about getting money, will not stick to anything they say to you, and you will have no recourse once your money is in their hands.

Sadly, we are not able to upload the three signed copies of your contract with the inventory and detailed piece count signed by yourself. These copies were reviewed and agreed upon by you. However, I have pulled up the original contracts that you were sent, and the inventory for each one was exactly the same at 128 pieces. You also completed the Quality Assurance phone call and added items to your inventory, which brings your total to 209 items. This is why you would be charged more for Quality Assurance as your estimate is based on how much space your items will occupy in the truck. Before you click the signature button, you will see the inventory with the pieces and the piece count. As noted in your file, you called into customer service on 3/5 to request modifying your inventory to bring down the price after Quality assurance. They assisted you as best they could. There is only so much we can do price-wise once the customer signs the contract and submits it to the carrier. With regards to the refund, the contract that you signed does not have this information. It also does not include any stipulations stating that if you cancel at any time during the moving process, you will be eligible for a refund. The contract does state that if you cancel outside of the 72 hour window from booking or within 5 business days of your scheduled pickup date, your deposit is non-refundable. If you wish to discuss this anyfurther please reach out to customer service. - Navistar Management

Worst

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Customer Service are liars, I initially ask how long was the company in business and was advised over 10 years and found out it was less than a year. Secondly, they gave me a quote that suppose to accommodate my one bedroom and once the contractors arrived it was only enough room for the boxes and no furniture. I had to pay an additional $900.00. My total for a 1 bedroom was 3000. Nearly every piece of furniture I had was damaged. They will ask you when do you want your furniture, knowingly they would use the deliver date to the full extent of the contract. PLEASE READ YOUR CONTRACT-DO NOT TRUST CUSTOMER SERVICE.-DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I apologize for the additional charges incurred during pickup. I note that you had items that were not described or that were larger than what was disclosed at the time of booking. We need to receive as complete and accurate of a description of the items as possible in order to generate an estimate. As your estimate is based upon the size of the items and the amount of space occupied in the truck, if they require more space, the driver must provide you with a revised estimate. Also, there was no information on file pertaining to the need to file a claim for damaged items. We ask that you contact Customer Service so that they may provide you with this information.

Do NOT hire this company

I hired this company a month ago for a move from Az to Tx. The sales guy Jason Fraiser told me he’d help me with any questions during this process. I paid deposit and got it all set up but a few days later I had questions. Reached out to Jason and got no response. I requested the date of the 17th of January. I was called on the 14th to tell me the driver can only pick up on the 16th and they would be here between 8 and 10. I really had no choice so I agreed. Here we are Sunday morning driver isn’t here yet and every number I dial I can’t get to a live person. We have paid for hotels and have already changed our schedules for this. Very inconvenient don’t use this company.

They showed an hour late!

Absolutely do not use this company they are brokers and they are not the company that transports your belongings. After they packed everything up my quote went from 5777 to over 9 thousand dollars. The company they had move us was called USA Logistics. They have an awful ratings and every review from customers experiences are the same as ours. I was told by Navistar that they drive our stuff right to the property but that’s not true. It could take up to 21 days for us to get our stuff … If we even get it at all.

We got our stuff and there is items missing. This company as well as the awful companies they hired are not interested in helping me with our missing items.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! FIND A COMPANY THATS NOT A BROKER!!

I apologize that your space reservation went up during pickup. However, I see from the paperwork that you picked up a significant number of additional items at pickup, almost 100 in total. In the unfortunate event that items are not disclosed before pickup, we will not be able to provide an accurate estimate. This will result in an increased price at pickup. In reviewing the call logs, I see that you spoke to customer service the vast majority of the time during, before, and after pickup. Furthermore, I apologize for the driver's one hour delay; they are subject to real world conditions and there can be traffic or unavoidable delays. To discuss this further in an adult and professional manner, please contact customer service at 800-380-5095 or by email at info@navistarvanlines.com. - Navistar Management.

Long-distance move from Guffey, CO to Lehigh Acres, FL

SO far the worst service ever

I hired this company after reading the reviews and I must say I am very disappointed. Our stuff was loaded by a subcontractor crew who reaked of pot and they loaded our stuff on a Uhaul- took it to Denver to lord knows where, unloaded it in a warehouse when we were told it was going on a truck directly coming to Florida. This was on the 23rd of January. It was suppose to b here by the 31st and now it is 2/7 and no word on where it is or when it will be here. The communication from Navistar and the sub contractor company they use is been next to nothing. Haven't heard from anyone in almost a week. When I completed the contract they never said anything about sub contractors. They have taken a deposit, then payment when they picked up and nothing!!!!!! The attorney generals of both states will be looking into this further.

This is the first time we have heard of any issues with the pickup crew. The dispatch manager and the crew foreman will be informed, as this will not be tolerated or condoned by either company. Having this information more promptly would have allowed us to take care of this right away. Regardless of marijuana being legal in Colorado, it would be inappropriate and unprofessional for this to occur and will be investigated. You have spoken with us numerous times regarding the delivery of your order. Please accept my apologies for inclement weather leading to unsafe driving conditions, which delayed the delivery of your items. Both the carrier and Navistar are committed to making sure your items reach you safely and the drivers are safe while driving. Even though we understand that unforeseeable delays can be frustrating, the safety of your items and the crew is of paramount importance. My understanding is that your pickup was completed on the 22nd of January and that they were supposed to be in transit on the 30th, but were delayed until the 2nd. Please feel free to reach back out to our customer service department to discuss this matter further if you still need any more assistance in the matter.

They did not show up on the day that I requested. The movers called me a racist. I thought it was supposed to be a full service move and I feel like I was misled because once the movers notified me that's when I found out it was NOT a FULL service move. Cynthia,

We wish you a sincere apology if this is how you feel. We had no record of any problems with your pickup at all. I do see the notation confirming that you needed 8 boxes and 2 tv packing boxes on your file. I do not see any notations requesting for them to do any packing services for you. I am sure the crew would have been more than willing to perform those tasks as that is an optional service. Packing supplies are not a free service and the supplies must be paid for. Also in our systems we have, it listed as confirmed for pickup on the 1/15 which was within your window, 1/14-1/15, as we do have a two-day window listed. We would appreciate if you called and spoke to Customer Service directly ,as we have not had any communications with you since the day before pickup, so we can discuss this matter with you 800-

Long-distance move from Las Vegas, NV to Windsor, CO

Do not hire this company!

If negative zero stars were an option it would be more accurate. Completely Crooked!!!I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how this company got this many 5 star reviews. Fake reviews??? Most of these so called "great" reviews have been made in the last month or so. If you also notice the reviews are days apart or multiple 5 star reviews on the same day which seems fishy to me. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. First, please understand these people are brokers. They hire other companies to move you and it is not clearly stated. Secondly, READ your contract! We hired Navistar to move our son from Las Vegas to Colorado. We gave them two dates for the move and it was stated in the contract. We were told that they would provide all packing materials however when my son spoke with a representative a week later he was told they would pack everything but he was responsible for supplying the packing materials (boxes, bubble wrap, etc. ). The week of the move they called us two days before our agreed upon date and said that they needed to come a day early due to conflicts in their schedule. We weren't happy but our son made arrangements to sleep in a hotel because all of his furniture was packed up already, his wife was pregnant, and he wasn't able to leave a day early. Then an hour before the movers were due to arrive Navistar called and said they had double booked and now the movers would not be there until two day LATER than agreed upon. My son spoke with a woman named, Tracy(?) and explained that he had just wasted money on a hotel room because they said they would be early and now they are stating that they will be two days later?! The Navistar representative was less than helpful and basically stated that we would not get our deposit back if we canceled. Moving two days later than the agreed upon dates wasn't possible because my son's move out date was not flexible. We had to cancel our move with Navistar and rent a Uhaul truck and move our son ourselves. We had already given this company a $1,300 deposit. They will not refund our money. Please read your contract carefully if you are thinking of hiring this company. The requested moving dates are listed at the beginning of the contract however the way that it is written is that they can show up 4 days prior or 4 days later. I personally think this is a scam. What moving company runs there company this way? This was not due to weather. This was due to poor scheduling and a complete lack of professionalism. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and prevent this business from cheating others. Here are some links to other consumers that have had similar experiences with this crooked company. I have included links below to some of the other negative reviews because they seem to have flooded the internet with false reviews. They all have had similar experiences to ours.

*** They also DO NOT ACCEPT credit cards! Why? Maybe because you can dispute the charges??? They use Zelle, Venmo, or cash. (yeah we should have been more wary :( )

Official company response

Michael,

It is frustrating to be asked to set up a date later than previously planned. A note in your file indicates that the carrier did compensate you for the inconvenience caused by the delays caused by inclement weather that delayed the rescheduled arrival of the truck. There can sometimes be issues due to the fact that the drivers have real-life conditions on the road and there is a shortage of drivers available due to the ongoing pandemic. However, we do our best to send crews out when they were discussed previously. The customer service team attempted to discuss this matter with you, however, the unprofessional and explicit language used against them prevented the conversation from continuing. When there are delays, we do our best to compensate customers for the inconvenience. The representative you spoke with when you called to cancel your move was not able to discuss this option with you because of the language used during your call with her. We also explain during booking and in the signed contract that we, unfortunately, cannot guarantee dates due to real-world conditions that can cause unavoidable delays. Please contact customer service at 800-380-5095 Monday-Friday 9:30-6 pm if you wish to discuss this in a professional and adult-like manner. - Navistar Management

LIARS! SCAMMERS! DISAPPEAR AFTER GET DEPOSIT

Dustin set up moves for myself from WI to FL and my daughter from WI to NC. They told us one quantity and price, sent us both contracts then had to send new contracts which we were told were same, but info switched. drivers showed a day late, told us had to pay cash and $950 more bc dustin estimate wrong. Dustin said it’d take 3 days to deliver and he won’t answer phone, customer service said they’re done - call driver and we have nothing delivered and don’t know when or IF we will get our possessions. STOLE $1300 from my daughter!!! ABSOLUTE CROOKS!! BEWARE.

Also, when we asked Dustin about bad reviews he said - “those were just cheapskates that didn’t want to pay”. lol. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

We are in Florida, no clothes, no furniture, no NOTHING. We have 3 days of clothes, 2 towels, toiletries. We don’t have utensils, plates, bowls, pans, sheets, beds, etc. The Navistar customer service knows they got their money so could care less that our property isn’t delivered.

Then, even though contract with navistar, they didn’t answer me to tell me how much money they needed at pickup. then i found out needed cashiers check so got one. mover wouldn’t move bc had to be cash for them????? then $950 more and what about contract with navistar??? who knows!!!

GO WITH A LOCAL COMPANY THAT DELIVERS THEMSELVES! DO NOT GO WITH A BROKER LIKE THESE UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2800

Official company response

You are informed that your estimate is determined by the amount of space your items occupy in the truck. Whether it was an issue of space or weight, there must be a calculation made at the time of pickup if there was any additional volume, as that applies to every single moving company. When you called customer service on the day of pick up, they explained that you can always stay with the original reservation if you do not wish to pay the additional fee. Our crews strive to deliver your items as soon as possible. Due to DOT regulations, there are limits to how quick they can deliver products. I see that your shipment was picked up on 3/8 and your first delivery date was 3/11. A moving company's delivery window does not begin until that date as per standard procedure. It appears from your account notations that you called Navistar Customer Service looking for delivery the day following pick up and you were notified of this information, and then on the 10th you were provided with the carrier's office number. Based on your FADD, it is not legally possible for you to be delivered at the time of writing this review. You have spoken with the customer service team at Navistar several times, and we believe your statements are inaccurate and misrepresent the facts in an attempt to vilify the company. In terms of the methods of payment, you are informed at the time of booking, and you received an email with this information regarding acceptable forms of payment. Concerning your daughter's move, she opted to cancel it outside of the 72-hour cancellation period. As per the contract, if you do not cancel within 72 hours of booking, the deposit will not be refunded, although it can be applied to a future move within 24 months. If you wish to discuss this further please feel free to call Customer Service ~ Navistar Management
