Long-distance move from Strongsville, OH to Cedar Creek, TX

DON"T USE THIS COMPANY

I would like to recount the unbelievably bad experience and bad service that I had with AME. It started out well with Kyle Lavelle, whom I had 3 – 4 conversations with. We talked about the move, and about insurance - if there was a need- he didn’t think so. I was concerned about expensive dishes we had (which came out OK in the delivery).

We talked about the need to have the move done on a certain time frame. We agreed that the move from Strongville, OH to Cedar Creek, TX would start with the loading of furniture on April 1. We also agreed, that if needed, April 2 could be used as the alternate move-out day as long as the movers would finish at 2PM so that I could catch a flight around 4:30. I would be there when they loaded the truck.

All seemed to be going well. I got a call from the moving help desk that the move would take place on Sat, Apr 2, so I had to wait in the hotel I was at the extra day. I reiterated to the AME rep on the phone that the inventory and loading needed to be done in the morning and the AME rep said that was clear and was documented with the shipper.

In the morning of Apr 2, I got a call from Mark (216 258-6963) from American Knights Shipping, who said they were not able to come to perform the inventory and load my goods. I immediately emailed, called, and texted AME. Mark wanted to do the inventory and loading of goods early the next week? (Mon? Tue?...) (It was Tues when they finally loaded the truck).

I dialed Kyle Lavelle’s direct phone because I told him I would be calling him if there were problems as he agreed to that in our earlier discussions. THIS SITUATION WAS A PROBLEM. Now I was faced with staying two extra days in a hotel, and missing a family get-together that evening. In my communications with AME, I asked for emergency help (leaving a message). I had already checked out of the hotel and had to make a decision whether to check back in, but I was not giving up on getting the problem solved.

After several calls, leaving voice mails, text, and email, etc with AME, and calls back and forth with Mark from American Knights, Mark said he would come at noon. I changed my flight to accommodate a few hours later. I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel so I took a taxi to the storage place. There I waited two hours. I texted and left a phone mail for AME during that time with the concern that Mark had not shown up. I adjusted my flight again. Finally I was able to contact Mark by phone who “readjusted” his time to be 2:30pm. Not so, after a few more calls with Mark, he showed up at a little before 4pm and causing me to have to reschedule a new airline ticked in the late evening (I believe leaving at 9pm).

Mark was very regretful and apologetic to me for being so late and not being able to load anything. He came in a car to do inventory only - and then said they would pick up the shipment on Monday (?). So I would not be on hand to watch the truck being loaded. He hurriedly made out an inventory list, which was mostly unreadable, especially through the carbon copies. We also talked about the 55” Samsung TV which was lightly wrapped in a blanked in the storage unit. He assured me that he would have it wrapped properly for transport since the wrapping was inadequate.

The inventory was “completed” according to Mark, though exceedingly hurried. I did not have a chance to go over it thoroughly – it was hard to read. (The lock and key was supposed to be sent to me in Texas but I did not receive). Mark had the goods picked upon Tues morning, which is specified on one of the documents.

Upon receipt the unloaders had a clear space from the garage door into the house I was watching and saw the TV laying in the truck laying on one of its corners. It was not wrapped the way Mark said it would be. I notice the screen was busted.

I caught the last flight out that evening missing a significant family gathering- very unpleasant, full of anxiety. No opportunity to view the loading.

Therefore, I hold AME responsible.

I also hold AME responsible, because of the delay and rush, causing the TV to not be adequately prepare for travel. I was not able to be at the storage facility for loading the truck.

[some omitted due to length]

AME should compensate me for the loss of the TV ($650) and the loss due to changing flights multiple times (approx. $350) – due to the incompetence of not following the customer’s instructions and not providing service in the agreed upon time frame.

A few weeks later, I repeatedly tried to call Kyle from AME. I left phone messages, sent texts, emails, etc. I tried all the numbers he gave me. I got though a few times and someone answered and I asked for Mark; they said he was there and they would go get him – but then it was diverted to someone else or I was asked to call back. THEY COULD AT LEAST LISTEN TO MY STORY!

I should be compensated with the reimbursement of the $991.99 payment I made to AME.

Regards, Richard Breitling

Long-distance move from Strongsville, OH to Cedar Creek, TX

Ohio to TX move - AMR will not take responsibility

I used them for a move from Ohio to Texas. The sales pitch by Kyle was convincing and I he agreed if I had problems that I would call him directly. I was delayed one day on pickup, kind of routine as they went to the next "alternate" day. I was told in the morning they could not pick up my belongings from the storage area. I texted AME, called and left messages.

After begging the shipper they hired, he said he would come at 12 noon. I waited for 2 hours. He adjusted his time to 2:30, and finally got there at just before 4. This multiple "adjustments" caused me to delay a flight I had 3 times and cost me $350. When the shipper came he did so without a truck and said he would inventory everything and then ship it next week. I would not be there when loading the truck. I mention that a large screened TV needed better wrapping, and he said he would do it. So I gave the key to the storage area to him after he hurriedly filled out an inventory sheet which you can barely read.

Upon receiving the goods in Texas, I notice the TV was NOT wrapped properly and the screen was busted. If I had been there, it would have been properly wrapped but apparently the shipping rep, Mark, did not remember to wrap it.

I tried numerous time over several weeks to contact Kyle, the original contact from AME and I was always redirected or told to call back. He did not keep his word. After the sale, he was null and void.

This get my ire up when they don't keep their word. This whole move cost me a $650 TV plus another $350 of rescheduled flights. It was agreed that they would finish before my original flight took off. No schedule was met, I could not call for help, they wouldn't help me afterwards, and it cost me another $1K. People who will not follow through are also not honest.

I will escalate this issue as it is not right for people to get a chance to present their side - hidden behind legaleze. I contested the charge on my credit card, but you almost have to have a legal document and details of everything that went on.

If you venture to use this company, record every conversation, track every detail. I will be active in spreading the word about this company until they reimburse me the $1K I lost.

First, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience that the customer may have experienced. It is never our intention for our customers to be less than satisfied with our services. We are a licensed interstate broker with the Department of Transportation (DOT) as stated in our binding estimate and on our website. We partner with carriers across the United States that are also licensed and insured to facilitate your move.

We apologize that you were not able to speak with your representative after booking and discuss the matters of your move with him directly. But to ensure that everything is handled appropriately, our customer service team is your point of contact after booking your move. You were in constant contact with them from booking to delivery. I have reviewed your file and see that our customer service team spoke with you on Saturday 4/2/22 at 10 AM when you received the information that the truck still had a delay and would not be arriving. After speaking with both you and the foreman, both parties agreed to have the foreman come and inventory the storage unit, provide the Bill of Lading, and collect the key so they have access to the unit on Monday for loading.

We are sorry to hear about your TV being broken. I do see in the notes that you had expressed to our quality assurance team that you already had a box for the TV, and that is the reason the driver did not arrive with one. All TVs have to go into boxes to be protected during the move. Unfortunately, a couple of blankets would not be enough protection due to the vibrations on the trucks, and the possibility of the load shifting during transit.

After reviewing your paperwork I see that there were no additional charges added to your estimate and everything had been loaded. We did offer compensation for the loss of your TV but in turn, you disputed the charges and we were not able to process that reimbursement. We are sorry that we couldn’t come to a happy agreement on the outcome of your move. We do appreciate your feedback whether it’s positive or negative, and the insight we need to move forward and provide a better service. And we wish you the best in your new destination.

Long-distance move from Chambersburg, PA to Phoenix, AZ

Mindy Simmons

I rarely do reviews but we had the BEST experience with this company! We were moving long distance from Pennsylvania to Arizona and were really apprehensive about the high rates we were quoted in the market. American Moving Experts were not only reasonable, they kept in contact with us through the entire pick up process and explained the increased charge, which was solidly on us as we underestimated the amount of boxes and belongings we owned. The moving team was polite, the hardest workers I have ever seen and wrapped, taped and coded everything and never once took a break. They were amazing, and while we are pending delivery in Arizona, I had to write this review immediately as I was so impressed. I am entirely confident that that our goods will arrive in the same timely, professional manner as the wonderful pick up process went! Do not hesitate to secure their services!!!

I just couldn't be happier.

After asking around to my colleagues about a reliable moving company, I had to hire American Moving Experts LLC as they got the most votes. They were professional, prompt and thorough. Their prices were the best. They had the best packing materials at the best prices and even delivered in a timely, courteous fashion to my door. Their men turned out to be just amazing. They worked tirelessly in my old house packing everything very carefully. They carried everything out with great caution. They seemed very sincere and honest. All my belongings arrived safe and undamaged. I just couldn't be happier.

I was happy to have them in my home!!

I just cannot gather words to share how fantastic my experience has been with American Moving Experts LLC. Firstly, their manager who we spoke to over the phone was experienced, well informed and answered all our questions patiently. The crew that arrived was way beyond our expectations. They were polite, and very careful with our belongings. We had things in every room that they were to take and not to take which was quite confusing. I was happy to have them in my home. These men are indeed gems. This has been a stressful period for us but these guys helped us to make it less stressful.

They knew exactly how to do the job properly.

I have seen my fair share of moving companies since I move around quite a lot. But no one could match the sheer professionalism showed by American Moving Experts LLC. They conducted my last move and were just fantastic. I have had many of my valuables broken in the past. But these movers performed a miracle when they delivered each and every item I own undamaged to my new house. The movers deserve all the credits. They were just very experienced in every aspect. They knew exactly how to do the job properly.

Long-distance move from Reno, NV to Greenville, NC

Move from Reno NV to Greenville NC

First of all do not believe the sales pitch that “we have another family moving to your location that same week” it’s just not true. They subcontract to third parties over whom they have no control.

Pick up was the only smooth part of the whole experience, from there it was downhill all the way.

In fairness to the customer support team they continued to report back to me but always with news that they were waiting for “Hernandez” (the third party) to give them updates.

Also be aware that they have 30 business days to deliver, which for us turned into 39 business days, or in real time TWO months once you take weekends into account.

The driver who finally delivered our items also informed me that our goods sat in a truck part way between NV and NC for 20 days because the first driver abandoned the delivery?

Overall a decidedly painful experience!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4300

Official company response

First, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience that the customer may have experienced. It is never our intention for our customers to be less than satisfied with our services. We are a licensed and bonded moving broker and our duty is to facilitate your move on your behalf by taking an inventory of the items that need to be moved, providing a licensed and insured carrier, advocating on your behalf during the course of your move, and help assist you with any claims info if it’s needed. All of that was detailed in the binding estimate that you signed.

Our moving coordinators are provided information about routes that need to be filled. Sometimes routes change based on many factors, delivery location changes, pick-up dates need to change, or a client cancels. It’s not something we like to happen, but it does, and we do our best to rectify the situation.

I did review your file and see that before the delivery process could begin the delivery driver had contracted COVID. Delivery drivers are a different class than pick-up drivers, they carry a CDL license due to them using larger trucks, and being able to deliver more than one load. That in turn helps save on fuel costs and emissions by being able to consolidate loads. It’s not something that they planned, and they were not happy about the situation.

We do apologize for the inconvenience this has put on you and your family and, were happy that our customer support team was able to accommodate you through that process. We have since stopped working with that carrier on your behalf and will not enlist their services again. If you need further assistance please feel free to reach out to customer service.

Crooks and thieves

I was quoted 750 cubic feet. After guys picked up and closed the truck, they said I used 2000 cubic feet. I had no way to measure or know any different. Upon delivery, I measured the space and only used 980 cubic feet (truck capacity is 1700). My stuff was also mixed with two other peoples. They refused to refund me the difference and charge correctly.

Decent price and professional job

The team was exceptional. From the initial survey of our items, to the loading of the the container, communicating progress across the globe, managing the customs process and the unloading at our home. Process was seamless and transparent. Pricing was appropriate. All members of the team we interacted with were friendly, professional, and accessible. I strongly recommend American Moving Experts for trans-continent logistic management and execution.

Thank you guys for the finest experience.

It was my best relocation experience with American Moving Experts just a few weeks ago. My experience in the past has been very bad to say the least. Moving companies have somehow always cheated me despite all the research that I had done beforehand. But this time from accurate cost to delivering my belongings at new home- everything went perfectly. I must say these movers are expert in moving. They are professional but they aren’t profit seekers. They were dedicated with their work. I appreciate this. Thank you guys for the finest experience.

Hi James, thank you for the great feedback. You did a great job with your inventory list and making sure everything was fully packed and ready to go. It was a pleasure working with you.
